Contra Costa Juvenile Advocates is seeking independent contract panel attorneys to represent parents and children in juvenile dependency proceedings. Attorneys will have regular in person court proceedings in Walnut Creek, CA approximately 3 days per week. Representation consists of advocating for your client’s constitutional right to parent or be parented at all stages of the juvenile dependency proceeding. Representation includes client interviews, providing ongoing assessments of the merits of cases, conferring with social workers, opposing counsel, other service providers, and meeting with clients. CCJA reimburses independent contractors for annual mandatory continuing legal education for juvenile dependency.

Qualifications

Must be licensed to practice law in California
Some experience in litigation and Family and/or Juvenile Dependency Law a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to build rapport with clients
Ability to work well as part of a team
Excellent written and verbal communication
Must have own office
Must carry own malpractice insurance
Experienced and new attorneys welcomed to apply. CCJA will provide mentorship for new attorneys and experienced attorneys new to juvenile dependency.
